  • What is the rental process?
    The rental process is simple. First, you need to select the instrument you are interested in renting. Once you have chosen the musical instrument, complete the checkout page steps, provide additional information, pay, and agree to the rental terms. Last, you can pick up the instrument at school on your chosen date.
  • What are the operation hours of String Instruments and More?
    We are available to answer any questions via email Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. We are closed during holidays and school breaks.
  • Are the instruments used or new?
    We offer a selection of both used and new string instruments.
  • What comes with the rental?
    The rental includes the instrument, bow, rosin, and carrying case with tag.
  • What is the cost of renting an instrument?
    The cost of renting an instrument varies depending on the type of instrument and the length of the rental period. Don't hesitate to contact us for a more detailed quote.
  • What are the differences between the instruments offered?
    Our student instrument models are designed to resist regular use. In contrast, intermediate and advanced instruments receive more personalized adjustments and higher-quality strings, making them a better choice for more experienced players. Although the differences may not be seen, they can be felt and heard when playing the instrument.
  • Do I need to provide a security deposit?
    We do not require a security deposit when renting an instrument.
  • Can I change sizes after renting an instrument?
    You can change sizes as needed throughout the rental period.
  • Can I upgrade the instrument previously chosen?
    Yes, you can upgrade your previously chosen instrument anytime. Please get in touch with us to discuss the available upgrade options.
  • What does the monthly payment for a string instrument rental include?
    When renting a string instrument from String Instruments and More, your monthly payment covers the instrument rental, taxes, and free maintenance.
  • Are there any hidden fees associated with renting a string instrument from String Instruments and More?
    No hidden fees are associated with renting an instrument from us.
  • What kind of maintenance do I need to do while renting a string instrument?
    You are responsible for keeping your rented string instrument in good condition, including regular cleaning, and polishing. You should also check the tuning periodically and make any necessary adjustments.
  • What services are covered by the free maintenance plan?
    Our monthly maintenance plan covers normal wear. It also covers all repair services like restringing, bridge repair, adjustments, bow re-hairing, minor repairs, and periodic maintenance such as cleaning and polishing. This plan also includes regular inspections to ensure your instrument is in optimal condition.
  • What does not cover the free maintenance plan?
    The monthly maintenance plan does not cover string replacement, damage caused by neglect or misuse, accidental breakage, natural disasters, fire, flood, loss, theft, or burglary.
  • Am I responsible for paying for re-hairing the bow?
    No. Re-hairing the bow is included in the free maintenance service.
  • Do you offer re-hairing services for bows?
    Yes, we provide bow re-hairing services for any string instrument.
  • What happens if I break a string while renting an instrument?
    All strings are checked before each rental to ensure they are in good condition. If you break a string while renting, you are responsible for replacing it.
  • In the unfortunate event that my musical instrument goes missing, gets stolen, or sustains damage, would I be held accountable?
    We understand that accidents or situations can happen. If the instrument is damaged, we will assess the damage and determine the best course of action. Depending on the damage, it may be repairable, or the instrument may need to be replaced. However, in the unlikely event that an instrument is damaged beyond repair, lost, or stolen while on rental, the renter will be responsible for the full replacement cost of the instrument.
  • Am I liable for every mark in the instrument?
    No, you are not liable for any everyday use or existing marks or scratches on the instrument before renting it.
  • How do I get my instrument repaired?
    If you need a repair for your instrument, you can request it online, and we will arrange to pick it up from RWS.   • When can I book a repair & maintenance service request?

  • How long does String Instruments and More take to process a service request?
    We provide fast and efficient service to our customers. We typically process service requests within 1-2 business days.
  • What are your pickup days?
    We provide pickup and delivery services Monday through Friday.

    We strive to provide quick and efficient service for all our customers. Generally, it takes 1-2 business days to service an instrument. However, depending on the repairs' complexity, it may take longer. If you need your instrument serviced urgently, don't hesitate to contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

    The most common string instrument accidents are dropping the instrument, leaving it in a hot or cold environment, string breakage, and damage from improper storage. Handling the instrument carefully and correctly storing it is essential to avoid these issues.
